[Commlist] Announcement for Post-doctoral Grant - Film and Philosophy
Wed Jul 06 14:04:24 GMT 2022
Please find below a call for applications for a 1 year paid
post-doctoral research position at the NOVA Institute of Philosophy in
the scope of the Project UIDP/00183/2020, financed by the Portuguese
Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT/MCTES – PIDDAC).
Area of Research: Philosophy/Reasoning and Aesthetics/Film and Philosophy.
Admission Requirements: To be considered, a candidate must have a PhD
degree in Philosophy, Artistic Studies, or similar fields.
The successful candidate will take part in a research and dissemination
program, which entails addressing films as a starting point for
philosophical thinking about the current political, military, economic
and social situation in Ukraine, and other conflictual situations
worldwide. Also, the program aims at raising the problem of cultural
representation of war and its role in building collective memory and
identity. Cinema is an excellent form of communicating and engaging the
public outside academia, so the research and dissemination program’s
main aim is to foster an open conversation about the current situation
in Ukraine and other ongoing global conflicts, involving IFILNOVA’s
philosophical expertise and the general public. The program is jointly
managed by the Laboratory of Cinema & Philosophy (CineLab) and the
Laboratory of Dissemination (OutLab). It is supported by the Portuguese
Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
Application deadlineThe call is open between 4 July and 17:00 (Lisbon
time) on 15 July 2022.
