Thu Aug 06 15:09:51 GMT 2020
The Department of Communication (IfK) in the Faculty of Educational and
Social Science
(FB 6) of the University of Münster (WWU), Germany, seeks to appoint a
Professor (W1 – tenure track) of Communication Sciences
with Specialisation in Digital Media and Computational Methods
at the earliest possible date.
The selected candidate shall represent the entire spectrum of research
and teaching activities in the subject area of communication sciences.
The primary focus of this assistant professorship is computer-aided
methods of communication science and especially the development and
application of methods for collecting, analysing and presenting
communication scientific processes by means of large datasets. These
methods include computer-aided content analyses, network analyses,
machine learning, data simulation and other processes of analysis and
modelling based on digital behavioural patterns. In addition to
methodical knowledge, the candidate should have expertise in a
communication scientific field which corresponds to the programmes
offered by the Department of Communication (IfK) and contributes to the
theoretical and empirical analysis of the requirements, characteristics
and effects of digitalised public spheres.
We expect the candidate to demonstrate a high degree of personal
commitment to teaching courses in the bachelor’s and master’s degree
programmes and to be able to hold courses in German and English. In
addition to the relevant academic qualifications, the candidate should
have experience in teaching and administering examinations and should
participate in the research activities of the IfK. Although prior
experience with acquiring external funding and implementing third-party
projects would be welcome, it is not a prerequisite for this position.
Active participation in research projects at the IfK on digitalised
public spheres is desired.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should hold a
university degree, didactic aptitude and exceptional academic ability,
substantiated by the quality of his/her doctoral degree.
The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is
committed to increasing the proportion of senior women academics.
Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female
candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will
be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal
possibilities. The University of Münster is committed to employing more
staff with disabilities. Candidates with recognised severe disabilities
who have equivalent qualifications are given preference in hiring decisions.
Please send your application together with your CV, certificates, list
of publications and list of given courses no later than 25 October 2020
