[Commlist] New book series: Trajectories of Italian Cinema and Media
Mon May 13 20:08:53 GMT 2019
Intellect is delighted to announce a new book series, /Trajectories of
Italian Cinema and Media/, edited by Flavia Laviosa. This book series
will build upon the success of the /Journal of Italian Cinema & Media
Studies
<https://www.intellectbooks.com/journal-of-italian-cinema-media-studies> -
/also edited by Flavia Laviosa. Both the journal and the book series
seeks to provide a forum for a diversity of voices and transnational
perspectives on Italian cinema and media, and welcome proposals that
discuss media as a distinct academic discipline focusing on theoretical
approaches and aesthetics of texts within Italian social, political,
economic and historical contexts. The series will publish its first
title in early 2020.
The book series /Trajectories of Italian Cinema and Media/ intends to
engage with diverse academic communities, build new conceptual
frameworks and foster a globally-focused and representative corpus of
scholarship in Italian cinema and media studies. With the aim to explore
new critical and historical trajectories, this book series seeks to
trace the evidence of Italian cinema's international polysemy and
polycentrism, define the extent of its inspirational force, examine
other cinemas' artistic innovations resulting from their osmosis with
the Italian film tradition and foster comparative analyses of themes and
genres between Italian and other world cinemas.
The main goals of the book series are:
1. To bring scholars, critics, journalists, filmmakers, film and media
professionals, film festival organisers and students to facilitate a
dialogue across critical approaches and creative practices;
2. To expand the horizons of interconnected areas of inquiries to
revisit the past, study the present and envision the future of Italian
cinema;
3. To provide an arena for critical engagement and trajectories in
studies on media and their interdisciplinary research into audiences and
consumers, authors and producers, cultural history and geography,
political regimes, or economic forces, the individual and the social,
cultural and political dimensions of new media, the global and local
dimensions of the relationship between media and social change.
