An excellent opportunity exists for an individual to join the teaching team on the internationally-recognised BA (Hons) Animation Production course at the Arts University Bournemouth. There may also be duties on our MA Animation Production course.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Lecturer to teach visual development for animation, which may include observational drawing, storyboarding, character design and environment design. Applicants will be able to support students in a process of ideas generation, operating within the ethos of a production-led course focused on animation practice. Experience in the process of making animated films is essential.

Ability to contribute to teaching in one or more of the following specialisms would also be an advantage: 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Stop Motion Animation, Animation Film Production.

You will have experience of teaching at degree level, taking responsibility for managing the effective learning of the students, including setting, supervising and assessing work. You will also be able to contribute to the development of the course curriculum and undertake a range of tutorial and pastoral responsibilities. Experience as a unit leader or year tutor as part of a degree-level curriculum is desirable. You should be able to work as part of a team, have excellent organisational and administrative skills and demonstrate a commitment to a student-centred approach to teaching and learning.

The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent industry experience, evidenced through being a recognised authority in the subject with internal and external peers as well as having a detailed knowledge and deep understanding of the subject’s processes and practices. Candidates from outside of academia must be able to demonstrate the ability to make the transition to becoming a leading academic.

Experience of professional practice within the animation industry is desirable.
