We seek an experienced leader for the newly created School of Media and 
Communication (at the University of Westminster), which is one of four 
Schools in the newly formed College of Design, Creative and Digital 
Industries, bringing together a number of cognate disciplines formerly 
within Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design.

The Head of School provides academic leadership and strategic direction 
for the School by overseeing the management of all undergraduate and 
postgraduate programmes in media and communication studies, which 
includes courses focused on animation, communication design, data, 
digital media, global media, interactivity, journalism, media business 
and management, media & campaigning, media & development, media & 
diversity, PR, radio, social media, television, visual communication. 
The post is focused on high-level management of all aspects of learning 
and teaching in media and communication studies.

It is anticipated that the role holder will be a Professor or equivalent 
or would meet the requirements to be confirmed as a member of the 
University’s Professoriate at appointment. The term of office as Head of 
School is for a period of five years, at which time the position
will be reviewed with the possibility of extension for a further two 
year fixed period. Following completion of the term of office, the 
postholder will revert to their substantive post.
