"Watching music"

Music videos have become a key element of the international musical 
landscape. Their nature remains however problematic: should it be both 
considered as a work of art, a decisive step in the mercantile 
development of artists and a conveyor of values constantly 
re-appropriated by audiences around the world? Furthermore, what are the 
changes brought by digital technologies? The international symposium 
"Watching Music" proposes to bring together academics, professionals and 
amateurs to think about what music videos are today and what it means to 
“watch music.”
