*Vacancy: 15 Professor positions with field of expertise in natural
sciences, engineering, social sciences and health from a perspective
that promotes interdisciplinary approach in Universidad de Aysén(Chile)*
The University of Aysén, was created by the State of Chile on August 7,
2015. It is located in the Chilean Patagonia, a region with a large area
reaching 110,000 km2 and low density population (107,334 inhabitants).
The region contains abundant natural resources of the country. 35% of
native forests and 35.5% of water resources, both freshwater and ice, as
well as a coastline of about 20,000 km The creation of this university,
falls on a pro-equity policy that seeks to contribute to regional
development and providing opportunities for access to higher education
to the inhabitants of an area located to the end of the country, which
has low economic development (contributing less than 1% to the national
GDP) education, and connectivity problems to the rest of the country.
In this context, the University's mission favors the generation of
knowledge and training of people with a preferred contribution to the
cultural, physical and social development of the Aysen region. This is
done through the functions of teaching, research, creation and
connectedness. Also, this empowered to training and training of
technical disciplines.
It has defined four areas of knowledge work, from a perspective that
promotes interdisciplinary and local development:
a) Natural Sciences emphasizing areas such as water resources, geology,
plant biodiversity, livestock agriculture, veterinary and aquaculture,
especially for food development.
b) Engineering: Engineering with a focus on renewable and energy
efficiency, computing and information technology, construction, geothermal.
c) Health: to train professionals in the field, especially nursing and
midwifery and contribute on issues of public health and epidemiological
research.
d) Social sciences: to promote interdisciplinary and local development
emphasizing areas such social work that will address economic challenges
and social problems in the region with emphasis on sustainable human
development.
It is affiliated with the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities,
the Consortium of Universities of the State of Chile, to the Association
of Regional Universities, all national associations. 2017 The University
will begin its training and graduate programs in 2017.
The Universidad de Aysén are now seeking 15 candidates whose have a Phd
and/or a Master degree (in specific subjects) and with an national or
international reputation as a scholar in a discipline area that can
teach at undergraduate level and enhance the arising research areas of
university
The post is open to candidates with field of expertise in natural
sciences, engineering, social sciences and health. With a strong
academic profile, research publication record and proven record teaching
at undergraduate level. In the case of applicants whose native language
is not Spanish, spoken and written knowledge is required. The details of
