New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human
Development invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in
Media and Information Industries to begin in September 2017.The appointed
faculty member will be part of the Department of Media, Culture, and
Communication. NYU Steinhardt has one-of-a-kind integration of education, communication,
health, and the arts, with eleven departments, seventeen research centers
and institutes, 292 full-time faculty, and close to six thousand students.
We are committed to substantially increasing the proportion of our faculty
from historically underrepresented groups as we strive to create the most
intellectually diverse, inclusive, and equitable institution that we can.
The Department of Media, Culture, and Communication (MCC) is at the
forefront of scholarship and teaching in media studies, attuned to the
scale, scope, pace, and power of mediated communication. Our research and
curriculum emphasize the study of global media and culture, digital media
and new technologies, media history, visual culture, sound studies, media
industries and infrastructures, social interaction, media activism, and
politicalcommunication. Responsibilities: Conduct research; teach and advise undergraduate,
master's, and doctoral students; participate in faculty meetings, serve on
committees, and provide other service to theUniversity. Qualifications: Doctoral degree and an active agenda of research,
publication, and teaching, with the potential for service to the department,
School, and University. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in
scholarship and teaching is required as well as a demonstrated ability to
develop a nationally recognized research program, including the ability to
attract research support. NYU's dynamic Global Network University includes NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU
Shanghai, and international programs and academic centers around the world.
