[ecrea] A two day event on alternative creative practices in world cinema in St. Andrews University

Apologies for cross posting. I thought the following event might of 
interest to some of you.

A two-day event from 7 – 8 October 2016 organised by the Institute of 
Gobal Cinema and Creative Cultures at the University of St Andrews which 
will focus on discussing popular cinema beyond the West in view to move 
away from the traditional ‘rip-off’ pattern of understanding global 
popular cinema and reveal a wealth of ingenious creativity.

The event will include a screening of REMAKE, REMIX, RIP-OFF (7 
October), followed by a day of discussions and exchanges (8 October) in 
a friendly setting. We invite you to partake in provocations, 
interventions and contributions from international scholars and 
observers including Dimitris Eleftheriotis (Glasgow), Iain Robert Smith 
(London), Savas Arslan (Istanbul), Ahmet Guarata (Ankara) and academics 
from the University of St Andrews. The event is open to all interested 
parties.
