Dean of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC)
MacEwan University inspires students with a powerful combination of

The university provides a transformative education in a creative,
collaborative and supportive learning environment. 19,000 full- and
part-time students are enrolled in more than 65 programs: four-year
undergraduate degrees, applied degrees, university transfer programs and
one- and two-year diploma and certificates. Additional offerings include
preparation for university and college, English as an Additional
Language, professional and personal development courses and workshops,
corporate training and the Conservatory of Music.
MacEwan University is searching for its next Dean of the Faculty of Fine
Arts and Communications. For more than 40 years, MacEwan has been home
to dynamic and high profile fine and performing arts and communications
programs with deep community roots. The Faculty is now at a pivotal
point in its evolution, developing new degree programs and preparing for
the Fall 2017 opening of a state-of-the-art 430,000 square foot Centre
for Arts and Culture on MacEwan’s City Centre Campus in the heart of the
vibrant downtown of Edmonton.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Dean of Fine
Arts and Communications is responsible for the academic and
administrative direction of the Faculty. The successful candidate will
be a collaborative leader with an earned terminal degree in a field
related to the academic and professional areas of the Faculty. A strong
record of achievement in teaching, research and/or creative activity,
and service to qualify for a senior academic appointment is required.
Successful experience in post-secondary administration and an
understanding of the culture of an undergraduate student-focused
institution will be important assets.
Consideration of candidates will begin in October 2016 and will continue
until the position is filled. Candidates are sought for a continuing
academic appointment to begin as early as January 2017 or at a mutually
agreed upon date.
