SECOND CALL FOR SESSIONS AND PAPERS



CFP deadline: November 15th, 2013

The 10th Crossroads Conference in Cultural Studies will be hosted by the School of Communication, Media and Theatre (CMT) at the University of Tampere jointly with the Society for Cultural Studies in Finland and the Association for Cultural Studies (ACS).

Besides the glorious midnight sun there are several reasons to come to celebrate the 10th Crossroads conference:

* SEVEN KEYNOTE AND PLENARY SPEAKERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD: Elena Trubina, Wang Xiaoming, Benjamin Arditi, Tejaswini Niranjana, Brenda Yeoh, Catalina Cortés Severino, Laura Junka-Aikio (more info on the website)

* SPOTLIGHT SESSIONS: Special sessions on selected topics organized and chaired by known names in the field.

* EASY VENUE: Tampere Hall is located in the heart of the city within an extremely short walking distance from hotels and social events. Easy access venue with ramps and elevators. Free Wi-Fi on venue, Fairtrade coffee breaks (included in registration fee as well as lunches). The evening program includes a summer night at a nearby island, a possibility to dine in the old market hall, interesting walks introducing the many faces of Tampere, possibilities to follow the FIFA World Cup etc.

* EASY ACCESS: Tampere can be easily reached from Copenhagen, Stockholm, Riga, London and Helsinki (the last also by train).

* ACS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: The Association for Cultural Studies will offer a small number of grants to assist participants from ACS under-represented regions with travel accommodation or registration expenses. The call for applications will open on December 15th. More info on the registration page.


SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL NOW: The second call for papers and organized session proposals is now open. Check the submission guidelines and submit a proposal using the online Easychair site before November 15th, 2013. All topics relevant to Cultural Studies are welcome. (If you have already submitted a proposal, you do not have to do it again.)
