Programme Coordinator - Media Partnership Programme for the Arab World and Iran
International Media Support (IMS), an international organisation based in Copenhagen, Denmark, provides support to local media around the world in areas affected by conflict and human insecurity.

IMS is currently seeking a Programme Coordinator for a media development programme covering the Arab World and Iran. The programme is expected to begin in September 2005 and will run for a period of approximately 2 years.
 
The programme will focus on a number of specialised fields, including monitoring and advocacy, legal protection for media, strengthening associations, investigative journalism, cooperation between public service broadcasters, collaboration between film makers and strengthening intercultural dialogue.

The Programme Coordinator will be stationed in the region. She/he will work at the IMS office in Copenhagen for the first three months of the programme and will then set up an office in the region. The Programme Coordinator will work closely with the Programme Officer (who will be based in Denmark), as well as specialised international and national partner organisations.

Applicants must have extensive experience in international development projects and an in-depth knowledge of media and journalism (knowledge of one or more of the specialised fields in the programme is a plus, but not essential). In addition, experience from the programme countries would be preferable. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, whilst knowledge of Arab and French is a plus.

As a senior member of an IMS team working on the programme, the Programme Coordinator will have the following tasks:

- Oversight of, and responsibility for, the implementation of the programme, including overall coordination, administration and reporting;
- Ensure that management procedures are adequately established, including agreements on auditing, reporting and handling of grants, as well as a plan for evaluating the programme;
- Establish and manage the regional IMS office;
- Facilitate possible synergies between various activities in the programme;
- Plan and undertake missions to areas covered by the programme;
- Assist and work with experts and partners visiting the region;
- Maintain contacts and coordinate with Danish and international implementing partners;
- Strategic analysis and development of existing and new activity areas.

It is anticipated that the Programme Coordinator will travel approximately 50 days per year.

International Media Support, an international NGO based in Copenhagen Denmark, provides support to local media around the world in areas affected by conflict and human insecurity.  

IMS is currently seeking a Programme Officer for a media development programme covering Ukraine, Belarus and the Western Balkans. This programme is expected to begin in late 2005 and will run for a period of approximately 2 years.

The programme will focus on a number of specialised fields, including media policy and legislative reform, support to independent media and media institutes, and investigative journalism. The Programme Officer will work closely with the specialised international and national partner organisations implementing the programme activities in the region.

Applicants must have work experience in international development projects and knowledge of media and journalism (knowledge of one or more of the specialised fields in the programme is a plus, but not essential). In addition, experience from the programme countries would be preferable. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, whilst knowledge of languages relevant to the programme countries is a plus.

As a member of an IMS team working on the programme, the Programme Officer will have the following tasks:
