The Academy of Film, School of Creative Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University invites applications for several fully funded PhD positions for the 2027–2028 academic year. Successful candidates will receive support from the prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). *Programme Background:*

Hong Kong Baptist University has a history spanning more than 60 years. The Department of Cinema and Television (CTV) was established in 1991 and was upgraded and renamed the Academy of Film in 2009.

Our current PhD students come from renowned universities worldwide and hold first-class honours and distinctions at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We welcome outstanding candidates interested in Cinema and Television History, Auteur Studies; Critical Theory and Cultural Studies; Sinophone Cinema; Gender, Identity and Sexuality; Media Industries and Platform Studies; Fans and Audiences; Media Globalization and Post-colonialism.

*About the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS):* The HKPFS attracts outstanding students from around the world to pursue PhD studies in Hong Kong. The fellowship provides:

   * A competitive annual stipend for three years (approximately US$43,690 per year)
    * A Conference and research travel allowance

    * Applicants of all nationalities are welcome

    Candidates should demonstrate outstanding academic performance,
    research ability and leadership potential
