Job description
Arrangements for job share would be considered
Keele University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in
Game Design within the School of Humanities, who will serve as programme
lead for our new undergraduate programme. This is an exciting chance to
shape a new course at a time that Keele is growing its provision of
creative arts and industries degrees.
The ideal candidate will have experience of a creative approach to
designing and delivering a higher education curriculum at undergraduate
level. This role requires a versatile approach and ability to deliver
across different areas of Game Design, contributing to a vibrant and
collaborative team, building links to industry professionals, and
developing partnerships with regional colleges and schools.
The successful candidate will ensure a positive student experience by
leading the teaching, assessment, and administration processes of the
programme. They will guide students in their own creative practice and
critical thinking, bringing together storytelling, technological
innovation, and professional preparation.
Candidates should have excellent conceptual understanding and digital
skills in game design. They will demonstrate experience in a relevant
area of Game Design that could include 3D modelling for games, game art,
or storytelling and worldmaking. They will have experience of using
current industry standard techniques and processes with a proficiency in
industry-standard software and knowledge of games engines.
The role sits in the Education & Scholarship academic job family, so to
complement their teaching the successful candidate will develop their
academic profile with self-directed projects, which could include
educational initiatives, scholarly or pedagogical publications, or
practice-based creative outputs, commensurate with their career stage.
A good first degree in a relevant discipline is required; the successful
candidate will have either a higher-level qualification such as a
Masters, PhD, or relevant professional experience, potentially in
industry and/or education.
