Job Description
(PDF, 164kb)
Goldsmiths, University of London is a world-leading centre of
educational excellence where ground-breaking research meets innovative
teaching and thinking. We're looking for inspiring and talented people
to help build on our global reputation while also growing personally in
a true learning organisation.
Summary
The role holder will be responsible for assisting with research, the
development of external grant applications, the production of research
publications and the organisation of events related to the AI Justice
research programme led by Professor Lina Dencik.
This programme seeks to explore the meaning of social justice in an age
of datafication and artificial intelligence (AI). Acknowledging that
AI-based systems do not implicate everyone in the same way, thus
creating new or amplifying existing inequalities, the programme
investigates the following questions: What does social justice look like
in an age of AI? In what ways are people and communities impacted by the
growing use of AI in society, and what are their responses? What are the
implications of AI for key areas such as policing, migration and social
welfare? How might AI applications be regulated and how is
accountability conceptualised in systems of automation?
Candidate
We are looking for an individual who can undertake basic research in the
area of AI/data; contribute to the production of research publications
and other programme outputs; organise and/or coordinate events related
to the area of AI/data justice; support the programme’s efficient
administration; and undertake any other duties that may be required from
time to time.
