The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Associate Professor of Digital Communication will provide leadership
and foster excellence in teaching, research and engagement in the School
of Media and Communication.
In the first three years of this position, the Associate Professor of
Digital Communication will be the Program Manager responsible for
launching a new Bachelor of Professional Communication. In this role the
Associate Professor will coordinate the vision, development and delivery
of the new degree and ensure it prepares students to be technologically
fluent communication professionals who are highly adaptable to evolving
roles in a global communication context. The role will involve working
with a large and vibrant team of academics in Melbourne. The role will
also contribute to global development of the program.
About you
To be successful in the role you will possess strong skills and
experience in leading and managing academic teams in a collegiate and
creative environment. You will guide and support delivery of new majors
and minors in Advertising, Digital Communication, Public Relations and
Gender Studies. You will also contribute to future curriculum
development across the discipline.
The new program has a strong focus on digital communication and you will
demonstrate the knowledge and skills to bring the latest innovations in
the field into the teaching program.
The School will value your ability to think strategically based on
organisational priorities and objectives whilst displaying a high level
of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills. These skills
will be required for your interactions with academic and professional
teams and your involvement with cross disciplinary and cross-sectoral
teams. Your leadership and expertise in learning and teaching along with
your substantial academic, research and relevant professional
achievement will contribute to the overall standing of the discipline
both nationally and internationally.
We are looking for a person to join our team who is creative, critical
and ambitious in their approach to media and communication education and
research and the evolution of the communication discipline.
Qualifications
Mandatory: PhD in relevant field
