[Commlist] Assistant Professor Media Research-Creation

The Communication Studies and Creative Writing programs at Memorial 
University of Newfoundland and Labrador are hiring an Assistant 
Professor of Media Research-Creation. We are looking for an 
artist-scholar who has the expertise to teach in both programs.

The Department of English, which administers the Communication Studies 
and Creative Writing programs, invites applications for a tenure-track 
position in media research-creation at the Assistant Professor level to 
commence on January 1, 2024. We seek an interdisciplinary artist-scholar 
with demonstrated expertise in practice-based research. The candidate 
will be responsible for teaching courses in the Communication Studies 
and Creative Writing programs with an emphasis on experiential learning.

Applicants should clearly articulate their expertise and significant 
output in more than one of the following areas: intermedia, transmedia, 
multimodality, creative writing, screenwriting, long-form creative 
nonfiction, digital storytelling, podcasting, immersive media, 
electronic literature, participatory media, digital humanities, and 
performance-based genres. In addition, the ideal candidate would have a 
creative and critical practice rooted in social justice (broadly defined).
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Communication Studies, a cognate 
discipline, or a terminal degree in Creative Writing. The successful 
candidate will take an active role in growing both programs and be able 
to design new courses that immerse students in a broad spectrum of 
research-creation practices. For an overview of departmental research
