The School of Information & Communication Studies <https://www.ucd.ie/ics/> at University College Dublin <https://www.ucd.ie/> invites applications for a full- time, 2-year fixed term position as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the HCI@UCD research group and ADAPT SFI Research Centre <https://www.adaptcentre.ie/>. The overall vision of ADAPT is to pioneer new forms of proactive, scalable and integrated AI-driven Digital Technology that empower individuals and society to engage in digital experiences with control, inclusion, and accountability and the long-term goal of a balanced and inclusive digital society.

This position is interdisciplinary and focused in the area of ethics and practice in Human Computer Interaction, specifically for AI systems. Current projects focus on health applications, entertainment media and smart cities, with potential for further application domains, including extended reality (AR/VR/XR), as aligned with the candidate’s research interests. As such the post-doctoral research will be expected to both drive an individual research agenda and contribute to the broader agenda of ADAPT and the HCI@UCD research group.

HCI@UCD <https://www.hci.ucd.ie/> is an interdisciplinary research group bringing together designers, computer scientists, social and cognitive scientists. We have core research interests in areas including digital health technology, conversational user interfaces, user autonomy, and ethical aspects of design for HCI.
