[Commlist] Job posting: Strategic Communication and Media Studies - Assistant Professor - Old Dominion University

The Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at Old Dominion 
University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the 
Assistant Professor level in Communication with expertise in critical 
advertising studies, strategic communication, or digital and social 
media industries.

Scholarly expertise and demonstrated ability to successfully teach 
undergraduate and graduate courses in the Strategic Communication and 
Media Studies programs and the MA in Lifespan & Digital Communication. 
Areas of research should complement current faculty and may include 
multi-generational media; social construction of diverse audiences via 
social media campaigns and data analytics; branded entertainment, 
micro-celebrity and influencer practices; and/or mediated strategies and 
tactics for non-profits, community organizers, and NGOs. Ability to 
teach about the creation and critique of ethical campaigns is essential. 
Ability to occasionally teaching digital media production an asset. 
Candidates should demonstrate exceptional promise as researchers and be 
willing to participate in department, college, university, professional 
and community service. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable 
commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
