The Centre wishes to appoint an Assistant/Associate Professor (Senior
Lecturer) in Media and Creative Industries to play to a leading role in
the Centre’s teaching, research, curriculum development and
administration. This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative
approaches to teaching and research and be instrumental in the launch of
a new undergraduate programme at a leading international research and
teaching centre.
You will be working with a committed team of colleagues to build on and
complement the Centre’s research, teaching and industry-facing
strengths. CMPS at Warwick has an excellent track record for research in
the creative industries and enterprise; media and cultural policy;
media, communication and culture; cultural entrepreneurship and cultural
management. Our taught MA programmes are central to our international
reputation and to the generation of new research and our new BA (Hons)
Media and Creative Industries (launching in 2020) will expand our
footprint in national and overseas markets.
We would be particularly interested in recruiting a researcher
specializing in the areas of production cultures, digital cultures and
creativity, creative technologies, cultural entrepreneurship, creative
business, media management, transmedia production/storytelling or new
developments in media and creative industries. You will be expected to
develop new areas of research and teaching in the broad area of media
and creative industries as part of the Centre’s strategic development
and growth.
You will be playing a key role in our new undergraduate course BA (Hons)
Media and Creative Industries and in the established Masters courses
(Creative and Media Enterprises; Global Media and Communication;
International Cultural Policy and Management; Arts, Enterprise and
Development). You will be expected to provide strong intellectual
leadership and to identify synergies between emergent themes in teaching
and research, as well as contributing to/leading on teaching and course
management. You will be expected to attract and supervise research
students, as well as supervise dissertations and major projects.
There are also opportunities to develop research partnerships with other
University departments and centres, and to engage with constituencies
and organisations outside the University. You will be expected to seek
appropriate external funding in support of your research plans. We
welcome applicants with experience of industry practice and / or strong
connections with media, cultural and creative industries in the region
or beyond.
To be appointed at assistant-level position, you will hold a doctoral
degree and have a sound record of achievement in research, with a
developing national/international reputation. You will have clear
potential for, or demonstrated excellence in, producing world-leading
publications in an area relevant to the post. You will have university
teaching experience, preferably including experience of, or clear
potential to engage in, postgraduate teaching. You will have some
experience of leadership or initiative in curriculum development, and
potential to undertake appropriate leading roles in the administration
of the Centre. You will be expected to develop high-quality bids for
external research funding, and to demonstrate a commitment to achieving
research impact. You will participate as appropriate in the
administration of the Centre.
To be appointed at associate-level position, you will hold a doctoral
degree and have a proven record of achievement in research, with an
established national/international reputation. You will have excellence
in producing world-leading publications in an area relevant to the post
for submission to the Research Excellence Framework and had success in
generating funding for research. You will have an excellent background
in university teaching experience, including experience of leadership,
curriculum development, and proven ability to take on leading roles. You
will be expected to continue to generate high-quality bids for external
research funding, and a commitment to achieving demonstrable impact. You
will participate as appropriate in the administration of the Centre.
