We are seeking an outstanding Lecturer in Digital Media to join our successful Department of Media and Communication.

Media and Communication research is about to celebrate its 50^th year at Leicester and the department can boast a high level of Research and Teaching Excellence in their field, ranked 8^th in the UK in the 2016 Complete University Guide.

In only its second submission to the National Research Excellence Framework the research profile of the University of Leicester’s Media and Communication Department was judged to be 82% World Leading or Internationally Excellent. It was placed 15th overall for media research in the country, and in the top ten when factoring in the high numbers of research active staff. Media and Communication at Leicester is therefore a dynamic and diverse department and an increasingly exciting place to conduct research in the UK.

We are looking for a specialist in digital media who has methodological expertise from the Social Sciences or Humanities, for instance from one or several of the following areas:

   * Big Data
   * Social Media
   * Computational Social Sciences

and / or

   * Web Analytics

You will be expected to undertake high quality research in your field of expertise and to take a role in the development our Digital Networks and Communication research cluster. You will take a pro-active approach to developing research collaborations, submitting grant applications, attending and organising conferences and seminars, and enhancing the research profile of the Department.

You will also be responsible for scholarship, teaching, PhD Supervision and administration and other activities supporting the work of the Department and developing and enhancing its reputation.
