Fri Jan 09 10:57:08 GMT 2026

*AI and the environment: call for book proposals*

**

Digital Materialities and Sustainable Futures book series <https://emeraldgrouppublishing.com/book-series/digital-materialities-and-sustainable-futures> invites expressions of interest, followed by full proposals, for *full-length original monographs, edited collections and short monographs* (“shorts”), addressing urgent questions about the *relations between generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the environment*.

The mission of the series is to support critical engagements between scholars and artists working critically in the fields of digital and environmental sustainability. Taking a decolonial approach, the series is committed to fostering interdisciplinary scholarship that shifts the conversation about digital environmental sustainability from profit and efficiency to environmental harms, and the geographies and violence of colonialism, land dispossession, extraction of natural and human resources, and capitalism.

Full description of the book series, including our mission, editorial board and support for authors, is available *here <https://emeraldgrouppublishing.com/book-series/digital-materialities-and-sustainable-futures>*.
