*Cultural Studies Association (CSA) 2024 Conference*

The Working Group on Culture and War of the Cultural Studies Association 
invites both general and theme submissions                              
                                                                        
                                                                       
                                                                       
             for the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Cultural Studies 
Association (U.S.A.), to be held in Savannah, Georgia, USA on May 
30-June 1, 2024.

*_General Call_**:* We invite interdisciplinary papers, panel proposals, 
and non-traditional forms of creative intervention that consider the    
                                                                        
                                                                       
                                                                       
               cultural, economic and political landscape of conflict 
past and present. International perspectives are especially welcome. 
Topics may include, but are not limited to:

·Militarization/securitization of daily life in conflict zones/entangled 
borders, including the necropolitics of occupation.

·Race, gender and sexuality in military organization and policy.

·Construction of war imaginary in national media.

·Conflict and continuing states of exception/siege.

*_Theme Call_**:* Consonant with this year’s conference theme, the 
Working Group also invites papers and panel proposals addressing 
“expansions”                                                            
                                                                        
                                                                       
             in the context of the current war in Gaza. Papers/panels 
could consider a range of topics here, beginning with the expansion of 
the war and                                                              
                                                                       
                                                                       
                         its ramifications beyond Israel/Palestine. 
Papers thematizing problems of contextualizing and describing such 
conflict within specific national                                        
                                                                       
                                                                       
                                        media are especially welcome.

*All conference sessions this year will be in fully hybrid format*. 
Working Group submissions can either be an individual paper (15-20 
minutes)                                                                
                                                                        
                                                                       
       or pre-constituted panel. Selected individual papers will be 
combined into panels at the discretion of the Program Committee. 
Individual paper                                                        
                                                                        
                                                                       
               proposals must include the title of the paper; the name, 
title, affiliation, and email address of the author; and an abstract of 
the paper (<500 words). //

*Submission and Registration:*
●    Friday, December 1, 2023: Submission System Open
●    Sunday, February 11, 2024:* Final Deadline for Submissions*
●    Monday, December 4, 2023 until Friday, April 5, 2024:  Early Bird 
Registration
●    Friday, March 1, 2024: Notifications sent out
●    Friday, April 5, 2024: Early Registration Ends, Regular 
Registration Rate Begins
●    Friday, May, 11, 2024: Last day to register to participate in the 
conference. If you do not register by this date and are not a current    
                                                                       
                                                                       
                                             member, your name will be 
dropped from the program.

*Registration: *To participate in the conference and be listed in the 
program, all those accepted must register before Friday, May 3, 2024.    
                                                                       
                                                                       
                                 Remember: registration for the 
conference and membership in the CSA are combined transactions. All 
proposals should be submitted
