[Commlist] Film Audience Movements and Migrations: Across Borders and Screens - new dates

Tue Jun 30 21:52:13 GMT 2020

This is a short message to let you know that the Film Audience Movements and Migrations conference at Oxford Brookes University has now moved online and will take place on 7-9 September 2020. For the most up-to-date information regarding the event, please visit: https://sites.google.com/brookes.ac.uk/film-audience-conference2020/.

The aim of this international virtual conference is to identify the dynamics of audiences, not purely in terms of their preferred film texts, but also with regard to the context of their movie-viewing habits and experiences.

The event takes place at a vital and controversial moment for film exhibition. Physical and symbolic mobility, competition in the sector and opportunities for access of audiovisual products through new technologies form part of the main preoccupations for both film scholars and creative industry professionals. The event situates the contemporary environment of fluctuation within the historical and predicted contexts of peoples’ movement (local, national and international) and their relation to filmic screens.

The conference provides a unique forum for new and topical scholarly and industry research in the field as well as the opportunity to share findings and know-how from a multitude of (inter-)national perspectives, initiating future collaborations across borders, disciplines and sectors. This is the first of a series of events at Oxford Brookes University, which aim to foster continued dialogue across academia and the creative industries sector.
