Sat Jul 30 23:27:00 GMT 2016
In the month of August there will be no new blog posts. Nichola is now
on Maternity leave. She has temporary handed over to Jacqueline Ristola
and me, and a little bit of time is necessary for the hand over to occur
fully. Blog activity will resume regularly from September with exciting
new themes!
September's theme will be "Animation and movement" and will be guest
curated by Steve Weymouth. The CFP for September is posted below
(deadline *Friday 26th* August), along with the titles of the upcoming
themes.
If you have any idea of themes and/or would want to curate a month, let
us know by writing at (cristina.formenti /at/ unimi.it) and
(jacqueline.ristola /at/ gmail.com)
Best wishes,
Cristina

CFP Animation & Movement, September Theme
(Deadline *Friday 26th *August 2016)
September’s theme looks at the links between animation and movement.
While these might seem obvious to the readers of this post, movement in
animation is both constructed, and perceived, in many varied and subtly
different ways. How do animators think about movement? What processes do
they bring to the creation and construction of animated movement? How do
audiences perceive animated movement? What contributes to the various
“qualities of movement” in animation? These and many other questions are
raised in the potentialities of movement in animation.
Topics may include but are not limited to:
· Animators engagement with movement (thinking, planning)
· Qualities of movement in animation (motion capture, stop-frame,
hand drawn, rotoscope, 3D CGI, experimental combinations)
· Scientific support for movement perception in animation
· Animation and movement in pedagogy
Posts of between 300 and 500 words, which discuss any aspect of the
above topic are welcome. Contributors are encouraged to include clips
and images to support their posts. Please also include a short bio to
accompany the post. All permissions are the responsibility of the
contributor. Please contact the guest editor (s.weymouth /at/ unsw.edu.au) for
submissions and questions.
*Upcoming themes*
- October: animation and documentary
- November: comics and animation (guest curated by Chris Pallant and
Craig Smith)
- December: queer animation (guest curated by Kodi Maier)
