22nd and 23rd October 2010

Register online for this year’s IHR Winter Conference taking place on 22nd October (at the Imperial War Museum) and on the 23rd October (at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Gower Street). Hosted by both the IHR and the Imperial War Museum, this year’s Winter Conference has assembled a distinguished cast of film directors and film historians to discuss, debate and view the war on screen.

The conference will feature lectures from Mark Glancy (Queen Mary, University of London) and Penny Summerfield (Manchester) and many other renowned academics speaking on a range of cultural, political and social issues surrounding British film history.

Film directors Kevin Brownlow and John Boorman will take part in a roundtable discussion on the first day of the conference. Chaired by Annette Kuhn (Queen Mary, University of London), the discussion will be centred around Film, Memory and the Second World War.

Attendees will be shown rare footage from the IWM, Scottish Screen Archive, North West Film Archive and other recognised film organisations, presented and interpreted by speakers such as Toby Haggith, Paul Sargent and Janet McBain.

Registration fees are competitive and spaces are limited. To register, please visit www.history.ac.uk/film2010/registration. Delegates are also invited to an evening reception at the IWM, where speakers and all other participants will be in attendance.
